Pre-monsoon showers bring respite from heat across Jammu region

The pre-monsoon showers this morning brought the temperature down, giving some respite to the residents here from the scorching heat.
The meteorological department has said the pre-monsoon shower in the state is a signal of a healthy monsoon season this year. The department has predicted rain for the next three days in the state.
The pre-monsoon current accompanied by a western disturbance was responsible for rain in the state this morning. The rain is expected to continue till Thursday.
“We call this rain a pre-monsoon shower, which a good signal for a healthy monsoon season. The monsoon is expected on time, with a sufficient quantity of rain,” said Yash Pal Sharma, a meteorological department official.
The monsoon is scheduled to reach Jammu and Kashmir on July 1.
“A western disturbance hit the state yesterday with a pre-monsoon current. This will continue in the state till Thursday,” Sharma said.
There are chances of heavy rain till Thursday. After that, there is prediction of rain at isolated places in the state till the weekend.
